WELCH, Amos - CW

ST Welch of this city received word of the death of his brother, Amos Welch in Marshalltown, Iowa. Amos Welch was born in Putnam County, Indiana Nov 1, 1830 and died in the Soldier’s Home in Marshalltown March 2, 1908.  He was 78 years 4 months 1 day old. He was twice married, first to Mary Carpenter and then after her decease to Elizabeth Ellis. To his first marriage were born five children, four of whom have died. One of them, Henry Harrison survives him.  He leaves also in bereavement a brother and a sister inu Oregon and a brother in Indiana besides other kindred and friends. He enlisted in the Civil War Aug 9, 1862 in Co C of the 30th Regiment of Iowa Volunteers and served to the close of the war. - kbz
